John joined the Firm in 1973 upon returning from his O.E after graduating from Victoria University in Wellington. He has been a Partner of the Firm since 1976.
He has extensive experience in a variety of areas of law with a particular focus on commercial arrangements, residential and commercial property transactions, asset and succession planning, and real estate agency.
John advises a broad range of clients in industries as diverse as accountancy, construction, fishing, farming, forestry, hospitality, property development and management, real estate agency, retailing, trades and viticulture, amongst many others.
John is a highly experienced negotiator in business and property acquisitions as well as sales and trade arrangements. He has comprehensive knowledge of real estate law and regularly advises agents and principals on industry issues. He is also highly experienced in personal and corporate asset planning and restructuring including the establishment and administration of Trusts. His comprehensive experience across most areas of law provides a wealth of practical knowledge as a basis for advice to clients which achieves cost effective results for them. John is also an independent professional Trustee for numerous Trusts and experienced with all issues arising from their administration.
John and his wife Pamela have four adult children and ten grandchildren to keep them young. They enjoy their expanding family, travel, good food and wine and getting out on Wellington’s wonderful harbour and coastal walks and reserves. John is very keen on recreational fishing and most sport.
John studied at Victoria University and obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB, 1970). John was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 1972.
