In his fifty years plus as a practising lawyer, Andy has handled most aspects of private client and small business legal work. Andy has extensive experience in estate planning, trusts, trust administration, wills, estate administration and family protection and relationship property disputes.
Andy’s practice includes all aspects of private and commercial property transactions and drafting and advising on a wide variety of commercial contracts and agreements. Andy has extensive knowledge of travel law, having acted for the Travel Agents Association of New Zealand (TAANZ) and the Inbound Tour Operators Council (ITOC) and related entities since 1991.
His wide general experience and sound judgement resulted in his appointment in 2014 as a Law Society representative on the New Zealand Law Society Disciplinary Tribunal.
Heavily involved in community service, Andy has at various stages throughout his career been an elected parent representative on the Boards of Karori Normal School and Wellington College. He has been a Board member of the Red Cross Foundation and is a long serving member of the Board of the Wellington Boys’ and Girls’ Institute. He coached cricket teams for many years. He is a life member of the Victoria University of Wellington Cricket Club and he is a past chairman of the New Zealand Basketball Disciplinary Tribunal.
Andy is married to Rosie and they have three adult children.
Qualifications
Andy studied at Victoria University and obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons, 1970). Andy was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 1972.
